Avoid Using Vinegar On:

  • Natural stone, such as marble or granite

  • Unsealed grout

  • Waxed wood

  • Unfinished wood

  • Some sealed hardwood floors

  • Electronics or screens

  • Rubber seals or parts

  • Anything the manufacturer says not to clean with vinegar

For wood floors, check the floor type and manufacturer instructions first. If you rent, are not sure what finish is on the floor, or the floor looks dull, damaged, waxed, or old, use a cleaner made for wood floors instead.

A safer rule is: vinegar may be useful, but it is not an all-purpose cleaner for every surface.
